Anybody painted their fuel Fuel neck rubber before?
Rubber is black but I want mine blue.
Any thoughts, suggestions, experiences?

Are you sure you're not talking about the sender on the side of the tank? That would be easier to see when the boot is open :?

If you are talking about the sender I don't see why you couldn't paint it. Just make sure you keep the wire connection free from paint other wise it might stop working when you put it back together.

BTW, Mine is still basic unpainted black - incase you are wondering if I have done it before.

I think blackdog is referring to the fuel neck rubber on the exterior..

I dont see why not, you may need to use a rubber etch primer I thik it is, and then have it painted the colour you want...just make sure it is with something fuel wont eat away on oyu.....

edit - ahh too quick Hanra..lol...typing while you were posting

Fair enough then - when I thought grommets I was thinking underthe tank  which is why I suggested the sender.

Please disregard that first post of mine :P

yes
Fuel neck rubber is what I was referring to.
Sorry for the confusion.

Will try to grab some sort of rubber etch primer and give it a go on the weekend. I guess if the paint cracks and wears over time it is not that hard to rip out and do again.

Thanks for the advice

Be careful painting the rubber, when you try to fit it into the tank hole the paint will crack from bending the rubber, also when the tank neck goes through the rubber it will expand also cracking the paint.

Pertol is a briliant paint stripper

I have to change the rubber every three years as they crack..

Can you get one made from some nolathane, multi colours which could be the next thing for Mini's

Just a thought
