Post subject:  1/4 window seal installation help

Hi there.

I have been trying to fit a 1/4 window seal for the last two week. I can see how it's suppose to fit, but can't for the life of me put it in place.

Any trick? or something i forgot?

Thanks

Louis

It's an absolute PITA job. There is a guide in the How-To section which gives most of the details. Have only done one side of mine so far. It's not perfect yet but stops the water getting in. Still got passenger 1/4 to do!

Good luck :D

I know someone who has done heaps of these and would be classed as an 'expert' 1/4 window rubber fitterererer... still takes about 3 hours per 1/4 window and heaps of patience and then heaps of swearing.

Good luck son.

I did one in 20 minutes last week using silicon spray and a screw driver to push the rubber. I used a similar method to that in the how to section of ausmini, but once the rubbers were in the channels I rocked them from side to side to make sure they were in place correctly before reinstalling the 1/4 window into the car. If having trouble with them drop by over the weekend with the windows and I'll fit them for you.

Last time I did this I had problems getting the bottom part of the seal to behave like it should, it kept getting squeezed in when the 1/4 glass was shut...How do you stop this from occurring?

I used a bit of rubber grease and a small flat head screwdriver. Got the technique from the how to on the old JAM website (trolled the web for a cached version!)
helped heaps.
others have mentioned using soapy water.

had problems with passenger side, fought with it for hours. Put it down, left it till the weekend and did it in 10 minutes.

Hey,
Sounds like a great idea for a competition we could line up a couple of cars and at least two people could go head to head changing both sides!

Ill put up a slab of beer as the prize and supply both cars!!

Well it was worth a try wasnt it :)
