Hey All Iam wanting to paint my rims (matt black) and was wondering if powdercoating is the best option? If so, has anyone used someone in Melbourne, preferably Moorabbin way? Any help appreciated Cheers |

As for places to get it done you will have to wait until someone from Melbourne answers. All I can say is just make sure that you go somewhere good and reputable and hopefully they won't turn out like willy's rims. |

Alloy or steel.... Either way, a bit of elbow grease to get them clean, etch primer on the bare metal and a can of acrylic. The paint will last 20 years..... But then I'm a cheapskate. Cheers, Ian |

If alloy, use a zinc chromate primer. |

Thanks Guys, Iam a cheapskate too, well some of the time! : ) They are alloy and brand new so, I guess I just need to get them sand blasted and then apply the zinc chromate primer, then the matt black Iam assuming any paint shop should be able to provide both paints even the primer? Cheers |

If they're alloy ..don't get them blasted, you'll never get them smooth again. Mine were ancient but cleaned up quite well with steel wool and metal polish. With any bare metal i think its the etch primer that really sticks the top coat. Cheers, Ian |

Cheers I have an unopened 1 litre can of Zinc Chromate, but, I think you will find it has been taken off the market and replaced by some more politically correct less toxic stuff. |

My zinc chromate is in a spraycan, I got it from a boat shop last year or so. made in USA. |
