Been seriously considering gettin rid of me crap box, as its just never gettin used. Has any1 ever sold there car in Japan, as i have heard the market over there 4 classic minis is pretty high? Like ive said many time b4 its had over $46 grand spent on it and i am fully aware that i will never ever get that sort of money, but when people say id get bout 10 for it, to me that just sounds like a joke.

Paint/panel -$7500
Wheels- $1200
Seat- $1300

Straight up there is $10 grand. I would prefer around the $20 odd figure but unsure if any1 would ever pay that sort of money???

Well who knows. It's just a matter of exposure and finding the right person.

Good luck!

I have also heard that the Japanese love the old style minis. They even to go extremes and change the late model minis back to look like originals with the grilles, lights etc.

Even try America.

when u say $46K do u mean to get from what it was to what it is now?
i remember u saying u've done 2 complete bare metal restorations on it, so really only the final $$ spent on it matters. if that's still $46k then well sell it in japan or something

I just got back from Japan 8) and they are NUTS about Minis for sure. Thing is that there are like about 1000 places that sell everything for them. The cost of Minis is pretty low there (anywhere from $3000 Australian to about $15,000 for a worked one) and when you see the cars over there you never see anything with dents or scratches or anything. I couldnt believe it. Like I spotted this 60's Cooper S (pretty sure it was original) and it was more immaculate than immactulate if that makes sense, but didnt look like it had been restored. There were original chips here and there and you could tell the paint fade etc, but in terms of panel straightness etc etc it was PERFECT.

I dont know if you will get $40K for it, but as someone already said, its about finding the right person and the right time. Most of their Minis though are in perfect condition so the competition for you is definitely there...

Yeah some of the imported ones that come in are often faded on the roofs and tops of the wings, but thats "normal".
The panels are indeed VERY straight, but its probably due to their age and that the Japs know how to steer a shopping trolley :x

if i had spent that much i wouldnt sell it.
restoring a car will never return your investment.
not having a mini to drive is very sucky

If you ever want to spent megabux on a car resto, you need to choose the car wisely.

99% of the time you will NEVER get back what you spend....you won't even come close.

If you are worried about losing money, then you should not have spent so much on the resto(s)..... 46k is HUGE money on any car resto, let alone a Mini. If you are not worried about losing money, go banana's!! 8)

ditto what jam said, if you do a car up, its for the love of it, not to make money from it. If your lucky you may get 1/2 what you put into it

I have never understood a car restoration... Is the passion for the car different when you have a 100%, cant take it anywhere in case it gets dirty car as opposed to a it goes, it stops, it turns and people still love it beaten up car..?? Or is restoration differnet to "doing it up"
