Post subject: | 5 inch headlights on a morris?? WTF? |
After I moved SC850 into our other shed today, my old man pointed out that he thought "the head lights are too big for the car" and "5 inch lenses would look better than the 7 inch ones". I would like to prove to him that he is VERY wrong..... but maybe there are people on here that have seen a 5 inch light conversion on a mini that they liked???? I cant say i've seen it done. NOTE- I am quite happy with the 7's and will not do a conversion to 5's. I have seen morries with the head light ring painted to match the car.... and thought YUCK!! But.....any opinions? |

some factory built hybrid minis (roundies) had square headlights.. I tryed a while back to start a thread on the hybrid subject but it bombed. still think its a worthy sticky subject especially for the younger members who may not have seen the low volume production mini specials for those who dont know , there are plenty of them. there may even be a site dedicated to them... would be interesting... anyone got a link??????/ also was that clubby a reasonably recent adaption or a preminition of things to come?? spoooky |

These cars were chopped in the middle of the body as well as the roof pillars. The square lights were fitted to get around the minimum headlight height regs in some countries. By making the lights smaller, the centre point of the lights is moved upwards on the guards. The Cagiva Mokes (Portugal) built for Italian spec had 5" headlights for the same reason. |

yep thats the square eye'd thingo takes a lot of getting used to, but its pretty snazzy... think the art of body chopping is called sectioning.. then theres channeling (which isnt something a psychic does..unless he she moonlights as a pannelbeater.. frenching lights used to be a good look..perhaps poeee" the retro king" should be reading this . |

Sectioning = chopping a chunk out of the middle. Channeling = dropping the whole body lower over the floor pan to lower the body without lowering the suspension. Either is very hard!!! I prefer the big Mercedes light conversions over the square units myself. Suits the shape of the guards better. ![]() |
