ok got the new bucket seats put in but now have a problem were the the floor is flexing with the seat on every bump.

now i cant leave it like this only because at some point the floors gonna come out from under me. so i just wanna know how can i stop this? whats a method that everyone else has used?

umm, how about a re-enforcing plate underneath the car?
Did you just drill holes in the floor to mount the seat?

whats happened,
tiny's old seats were just bolted through the floor, the po has just drilled through the floor and mounted the seats, whats happened now is, the new buckets have had holes drilled in the rail at the location where the pre-existing holes for the previous buckets were, and bolted on.

How did you mount the new seats if you used the origanal mounts you shouldn't have an issue.........

we redrilled new holes to suit. and its the rear im talkign about drifter not the front
the front actually hold up pretty well lol.

but the back especially the passenger one is moving like its not even bolted down.

TINY Remount them in the origanal mounts...
the only way to go.......

nah nah nah,
i meant the rear metal bar at the base of the seats.

but all i think it is,
the new seats are wayy f$@&ing heavier than the old ones.

the po drilled fresh holes to mount his aftermarket seats, by sheer luck the new buckets fit straight on where the holes were.

Pis would really help. What I think he's saying is the bucket seats the PO and he has put in are not mini seats, correct
From what I understand the sliding rails are bolted to the cross member but the rear is just bolted through the floor. This is probably not strong enough. Get some plate inside and outside where the rears bolt to the floor, round the edges and the corners of the plates so they wont cut/tear through the floor pan .
This should give it some strength back but it should also be checked by an engineer and the car would then need a mod plate (legally).
How are the fronts mounted out of curiosity?

How about some photo's guy's , if the rear of the seat is bolted to the floor around the same area as the rear of a standard seat sit's then shouldn't be much different to a standard seat as far as the weight loading and distribution is concerned . I'm around 120 kg and my floors don't move so a lightweight with a heavier seat still shouldn't move unless there are other problems .

Yes but if they are bolted through legally they require a mod plate and the engineer will probably want a plate either side fir strength.

For sure , I was mainly saying to look for more problems as the floor shouldn't be able to flex much even with the extra weight . Different seats that aren't mounted on the original mounts will need to be looked at and the new mounts reinforced .

I had an ex-Police Mini K that the rear legs of the drivers seat had worn through the floor!
I think a bit of extra plating wouldn't go astray.

My 1275LS used to bend the rear mounts (they are totally different to earlier seats) They are a good seats with crap mountings.

1. tiny's car would not have had the rear of the original seats bolted down. so forget anything about original mounts.

2. use the recommendations of the registration authority in your state. the links are here for a reason http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=26403

3. Alternatively use the recommendations of the CAMS manual. ie 3mm steel plate at least 75mm around the hole.

4. If you are going to do any modifications to your car, do a lot more thinking before you lift a finger to do it. Use the links above to get yourself educated. Ignorance is not a defence when you are in court or before your maker after you kill someone in an accident.

5. If you are buying a previously modified car, use the links above to get educated. You cannot assume that any modification or repair done by any previous owner is safe. Therefore you are best to go into it before you attempt to buy the car, then you will know how much rectification work you are up for.

sorry guys ill get some pics up tomorrow. its way to dark now, but what im trying to work out is why do these bucket seats make the floor flex were the old buckets i had in there didnt.

the front holes dont match up 100% so im going to make up a plate for that. its the rear that worries me though.they arnt flexing a great deal. but over time it will begin to break. the rear has been modded with 2 tube bars so its not bolted from the actual rails.. its bolt on the bars thats welded to the rails.

and those links arent the best just tells me what adr number it is.

i was actually hoping to get a reply from someone that has had bucket seats installed and whether they had the same problem or not.
