did they still have the hole in the firewall on a '75 - makes it much easier I made one for my van, and in all honesty, I reckon you're best off working it out for yourself - work out where you'll mount it, what steel you need, then zap it together... |

im pretty sure its got a hole just patched up with a circular plate maybe riveted. i picked up two engine stands today. would a steel pole between the stands work??? cheers leighton |

ok, sounds good. what do i actually need to do to attatch the spit to the mini? do i need to bolt a bracket to the firewall with a hole in it or......any ideas??? cheers leighton |

cheers leighton I did just this. I then bought a length of steel tube with the correct O/D and slid it through. I length of 2x1 square tube was cut to length and drilled so that a bolt went through each of the rear shock mounts in the boot, and the subframe tower mounts in the front. Also drilled these so a pair of u-bolts straddle the pipe and are bolted through the cross pieces. Took about and hour to make once I had all the pieces lying on the floor. The engine stands are a little too low however, they need an extra 6-12 inches to be perfect imho. |

They will do the job, only as you rotate the mini it will get to about 70 - 80 degrees and the sill will touch the ground. It's fine enough to work under the car, but not perfect. Cut and shut the vertical support on the engine stand with some identical square section and you will be able to flip the car over.[/quote] |

That one looks good but put some decent castors on it then you can move it about... like these-

It comes apart for transport, I brought it all home in an EA Falcon sedan...
