After Ideas, You've got $1500, this must include labor, tuff task I know Your goal is better performance/ better acceleration of the mark, not worried about top end speed so much. You have a standard 1275 single carby. The catch is, when you pop the bonnet everything must look totaly orriginal. (twin su's r out.) let me know ehat you would do |

I wouldn't do anything, I'd rather have the 15 hunji in my pocket. |

I would spend it on the head, and a better set of pipes, get the manifold ported and maybe a set of offset rocker bushes, oh and what ever variant of GR's cam that is popular at the time. |

To achieve your goal the easiest way is change the diff ratio. |

I'd get someone to do me a head & cam to go with it (GR for both I guess) but..... it's a can of worms, because if you raise your compression and make the engine work harder, the next weakest link will rear it's ugly head, and chances are your bottom end will be it - if the engine is tired, as soon as you put a high squish head on, you'll find the rings can't cope and you'll be blowing smoke everywhere, and hey presto you're rebuilding the motor and your $1500 has turned into a lot more Vizard has some nice mods to the 1 1/2" carb to make it flow like an 1 3/4" - I did them to my twins and my bum dyno said it was going harder |

IMO with what you said you want I'd recommend changing the diff. It will depend on what you have now as to what you should get to accelerate faster. Any mini friendly place should be able to do this, it would be a lot cheaper if you take the engine out yourself and simply take the diff in. That way you might have some money left over to tart up your carby a bit ![]() (I think you need to remove the engine to get the diff out ![]() |
