Post subject:  Hydrolastic Pump - Sealing Up The Reservoir

Gday all,

I picked up an original Hydrolastic Pump today. Bringing it home I got the typical response. "What is it? How much did you pay for it? Is it meant to be that rusty" Parents never understand :P I admit it isnt the most glamorous looking thing but I have started cleaning it up and it looks like it will clean up well and all the bits are there.

However, the reservoir has a quite a few minor rust holes in it. I have heard of people using a sealant which you put in fuel tanks to seal them up.

Does anyone know of any products that I could attempt to use to seal the reservoir with? If it doesnt work I will attempt to solder them up or salvage the old fittings and solder them into an old rectangular oil container I have (after claeaning it ofcourse) If all else fails I will just use a plastic container of some sort.

Cheers
Matt

If only small holes you could try the por15 fuel tank repair kit... http://www.ppc.au.com/kits3.htm

A lot of the car restorers use Red-Kote fuel tank liner. There is an advert for it in Restored Car magazine.
Or take a look at this ebay advert.
