A stupid question.

Does the negative coil go to Distributor spade?

Yes.
Unless your car is pre-1969 with a generator- those were all positive earth.

Thanks Doc.

It's a 64 850. Battery is negative terminal to boot floor (earth) I'm running a generator. So, negative to distributor still correct?

Yes. If the car has not been run with neg earth already, you will need to polarise the generator:
With battery and generator etc cables connected,
1. take cover off voltage regulator.
2. push the arm on the cutout (which is the the RH one) downwards to close the contacts, leave no more than 5 secs, lift it back up.
The generator will now charge a negative earth battery.
