"Left Work and the brakes were soft and then just faded away but was able to stop with the hand brake and now sitting away from everyone else. Towey is on its way to collect me." "Okay Cool I'll have a look when you get home" We were only talking about road side service the other night ![]() ![]() I was going to take a picture of Morris on the back of a flat bed but didn't want to alert the next door neighbours ![]() Number 6 I feel I have taught Sue enough in most situations ![]() ![]() What Happened. I checked the resovoir for the brake and it was very low. Stupid me mast weekend topped it up as it was a little low ![]() Checking around and I Found this ![]() I beleive its a Wheel Cylinder althought it was only put in around a year and a half but will check it out properly tomorrow morning and will have my littl eman to help me so expect some cute pic's of him also ![]() See how I go may also do a How To ![]() |

My new wheels cylinders only lasted 1000kms before they start leaking. Apparently it is a common fault amongst those W/C made in chine, and I believe Mini King has sourced some more reliable product. Glad to hear you've taught her well, it could have ended up a lot worse. |

New parts always need checking before fitting. How do you know thay are any good when they have not been tested? ![]() I have had brand new wheel cylinders leak when fitted back in the days when they were made in Aus or UK. It is nothing new. The best one was recently, a porous casting that was leaking out the side of the cylinder. ![]() |

I had the same problem a month ago with Barney, it was pulling to the right, a front S caliper seal had decided to let go. Calipers were both rebuilt last year with new pistons and seals. S**t happens I guess.... but lately it happens more frequently. ![]() |

![]() ![]() I'll get another cylinder tomorrow but first will top up the res and get the wife to pump on the brake pedle to check that its not comming out somewhere else first. I'll actualy void the system of all fluid and put all fresh stuff in, so I know its done, May even replace the Rear hoses as everything else has been replaqced back thier ![]() |

At least no one was hurt. Shouldn't take you too long to replace it - you will have to keep an eye on the others to make sure that they are ok. |

20 Minutes to the rear off the ground and get everything off including the Cylinder. Brake Fluid was everywhere inside and out ![]() I suprised myself and got the C clip on in 20 Minutes or so and did not sware one ![]() ![]() Connecting the metal brake pipe on to the Cylinder and it would just not thread on...so I disconnected it from the other end. No idea how but the Nipple on the end was 3/4 off. So it may have taken me an hour but its ending up sitting overnight untill I can collect two new pipes tomorrow. What a pain ![]() |

You wouldn't wanna sell me the old drivers side rear brake pipe would you? - I need mine replaced but all the brakes places want the original to make a copy from. It is a major pain with the mini being my only car. I'd rather get a sample like an old pipe and get a replacement made up in advance and then just swap it all in one sitting rather than having the car off the road..... |
