The 1100 engine in my MK1 is obviously a swap as it is a Vanden Plas 1100. In trying to find out about this I found a site the gives this info with regard to Mini's Mini Vanden Plas 1978-1980 BL-offshoot Leykor pioneered the idea of using the Vanden Plas name purely as a trim level identifier when they launched the “most luxuriously-equipped Mini ever seen in South Africa”. Were the VDP engines ever used here? or could it be that mine was imported from SA? Does anyone know anything else about them? - basically just courious ![]() |

Could it be out of a Morris 1100/1300 Vanden Plas? A few of those in NZ and cheap engine repower for a mini. |

The engine has a place for a mounting block under the alternator that is just hanging in space - what modela out there have a mounting point on the front sub frame behind the grill?

Vanden Plas Princess they were I think- All Morris etc 1100 & 1300 type AD016 cars had that engine mount where you say. There was another behind, under the fuel pump. My 1100S motor had 'em, until I lit the gas axe... ![]() |
