well i picked up the rest of my interior sourced from different places. only problem i have is the two front door cards are water damaged, still slightly damp, and was wondering how to straighten them out? or would i be better of to remake the cards??? cheers, simon |

The joys of masonite. Get yourself some thin ply and knock up some new ones. |

I have heard people say that they sit something on them while they are still wet to hold them flat, then let them dry out in the sun. But if that does not work you could always replace the backing. |

i would suggest to make some new ones but if you dont want to go down that track you could do what morris 1100 said but put a thin sheet of ply or metal between the door cards and the objects your placing on it!!! thats my 2c worth |

If I remember correctly water destroys the glue used in mdf, masonite and interior grade ply. If thats true then your probably best off looking at remaking them... It's not a very costly or difficult exercise. |

Back when masonite was new they would wet it so it could be curved to shape. Some masonites had written on them "wet this side before use" Don't be frightened of masonite getting wet, just don't let it soak too long. |

if you are making them use a board of some sort then glue about a 3-5mm sheet of foaam then put ur vynil on then wack it under the sewing machine for a nice patern of your choice. im not sure if you glue the vynil n the board then sew or just mark out on foam and vynil and sew without board i would think it was the second one

It also depends on what model trim you have Some boards are Masonite and some are made of "Trim Board" This looks a little like masonite but if wet too long it will fall apart, If it is not breaking up now, I would suggest that you take Morris 1100 Advice, You have nothing to loose by giving it a try |

oh ok, thanks for the help, will have a look in the morning and take some pictures to show. the cards are all one colour vynal (brown) and the pattren is pressed into it, not stiched. ive left them in my spare room to dry out atm. cheers, simon |

well i have put my spare rims on the cards but alas they still bend  so im gona go to bunnings and get me some ply, what sort of thinkness would you advise to use? sorry my camera is shot so no pics as such yet.

couldnt you just put a couple of small screws in either side to hold it on the door and just paint them the same colour or whatever? |
