Howdy,

As title says and I thought it was my imagination... 1/2 throttle to 3/4 throttle the thing goes nuts, nail it to the floor and it seems not to have the same oomph :S
If you hold it at 3/4 it'll light up the wheels, rip around left and right... but if you nail it flat, full throttle, it kind of just 'goes' hard but doesnt go nuts ???

Any ideas why? Im-a confusedededed now!

Pete

You could always re-adjust your accelerator cable to make 3/4 throttle the new full throttle

Sorry, I'm sure someone else will be much more helpful with their answer

Not enough fuel maybe, leaning out the mix at full throttle?

Brilliant, thats the answer lol

Nah, something has to be making it do that.
Mixtures seem fine - unless its getting a bit 'too much' fuel on full tilt?
Or too lean, not sure but the A/F was perfect... Hrm :?:

Beat me to it Simon :)

Yeah, mix looks ok, but ill have a tinker and use the meter on Sat for sure.
Last time I threw on the Lambda meter all looked good...

I think it 'might' be the opposite though. Ie/ Too rich! Not too lean...
Here's the theory behind my madness.

The Metro Turbo carb HIF44 Turbo - it has a 'Part throttle Lean out pipe' and what that does is 'Improves economy while cruising with 1/2-3/4 throttle... its factory design.
So, when you stomp on it, the part throttle lean out pipe is ignored/bypassed by flow and therefore dumps all the fuel in... if I am at 1/2 or 3/4 then the part throttle pipe is still doing a little bit of adjusting, which is prolly leaning out the mix...

Hrm, will throw on the other Lambda and see what it reads... but me thinks its (Best Mc Hammer Voice) "Needle time" der nernerner der ner, der ner... "Needle Time"

Oh man, I need to change meds

Hmmm, didnt really think about the charger itself, I know its dead (ie, going to go anytime!)
There is oil dripping from it, the seals might be gone or about to goo and its smoking nicely :) Looks great the lights, pull up and puffs of smoke come out of the hood :)

Yes, Fire extinguisher and everything sitting on passenger seat, until I sort the new turbo... mustn't let wife find out rofl.

Turbo stall... ill probably rip off the turbo soon anyway and see what its doing, shaft play etc and tighten up the housings too...

Hmmm, been researching wastegate creep too. Will play with the wastegate actuator to ensure its holding enough... Should spool and boost alot quicker if setup properly.

It's not a big deal, my car does it, more so when cold. Plant it and no grunt, but after about a second massive power and torque.

Or 3/4, for a moment then max throttle. Or alternatively dump it with any throttle in first and don't move...

My problem seems to be due to the carby and the piston rising too fast. It would be a suck through issue I'd think. It can fixed but I am too lazy.

Not a big deal! if it goes nuts at 1/2 throttle then imagine what it would do at full throttle with the right mixture!

One of the first thing Vizard says is to verify that full throttle is exactly that. Maybe 1018 is closer to the mark than he thinks.

without the engine running I would have someone progressively activate the throttle while you watch to see what is actually happening at 3/4 and "full throttle".

Ok, im definately getting some boost creep - I dangerously took the hose off the actuator to see if it would spool up quicker, if I thought it was nuts before, its NUUUUTZ now, anyhow, hose back on so I dont overboost and destroy everything, didnt let her above 10psi but WWWWWHHHOOAOA does it get to 10psi quick!

Anyway, couldnt 'really' feel the problem this way, because it spools up so fast.
Watching the throttle with motor off Kev, it all looks fine, Press it gradually to half, then 3/4 then full and its fine, try to turn it more (by hand) and it wont move (ie/ its getting full throttle through the pedal)
What am I looking for in this case?

Ill keep playing, but its quite odd, it 'may' also be something with the piston or the needle, full throttle sees the end of the needle right... hrm, but that would show on the A/F ...

Dunno, ill just drive with 1/2 to 3/4 lol - no, I am with Albino here, if I can sort it, I know it will perform...

Pete

That's exactly what you are looking for. You've already done it in that case.

Because my tyres are very soft and can disappear quickly. Think of the hesitation as launch control. Gives me full throttle after I'm moving.

I guess real reason why I think it's not a big deal is that I'm building a more powerful Mini and use my supercharged Mini as a daily and while it works I leave it.
