Hi Guys and Gals,

Does anyone know how many Litres per minute the Mini water pumps flow?
I am looking into an electric pump and fan setup on mine...

I can get 80l/min and 110l/min pumps...

Just wondering what we need.

Thanks,
Peter

Bigger is better, you can never have too much flow :)

I would beg to differ as too high a flow rate will mean the coolant won't stay in the radiator long enough to actually be cooled.

In saying that, the thermostat should regulate the flow to a certain extent.

Thanks,

Yeah, thats the thing... If you have too much flow, it wont actually sit in the rad long enough to cool, the thermostat is meant to control that enough so in theory the 110l/min should be fine.

My mate runs 2 x 80l/min in his 350chev (in series because he wants more pressure and flow is fine) im thinking 1 x 80l/min should be plenty but wondering if someone actually knows what ours flow

Actually, how many litres/min and also possibly how much pressure they flow too.

Obviously I want to know what they flow at around 3000-4000 rpm ... as opposed to on idle ...

Cheers,
Peter

i also beg to differ, we are running a aluminum radiator in our burnoutcomp car, and a electric water pump, we ar having trouble cooling it as teh water is passing through the radiator too quick.

I have a Davies Craig EWP80 and Electronic Controller on Ebay at the moment. Currently bidding about $210 for both which is close to half retail. They are both unused.

I bought them thinking I could remove the water pump from either the GTI or 4efte to give some more room around the tower. Turns out it wasn't required so pump and controller is surplus to requirements.

The thermo should aid in regulating the flow, but the good EWP's also have a thermostat controller and can regulate flow on their own if required.

You want the water to have good flow through the block, if your radiator is having trouble cooling it then it is the fault of your radiator, you should consider having the tank ends modified and running extra passes on your radiator to slow the water down not run the pump at a slower flow rate. The slower it flows the more heat soak there is from the engine and the more it takes to cool it back down again through the radiator.

So trying to make sense of all this.. 80l/min will be fine with thermo fans
Yes?
Better than the standard setup...

I'd say plenty - my Davies Craig Boost Pump only does ~12L/min
