Post subject:  Engines according to me

I'm trying to work a few things out. I've got a new 202 head and want to know if it will do anything.

I'm an electrician so I have a small clue about stuff mechanical but it's not my day job. Please correct me if this sounds like poo.

It's an A Series 998. Now.... it smokes on deceleration and under hard load. So I figure the vacuum in the cylinders is pulling oil up and through/around the worn out rings burning and causing the smoke. But the rings aren't worn enough to smoke at idle.

Compressions are fair at 100-115, that tests the valve seals, correct? So I figure changing the head is a silly idea unless I do the pistons and rings too.

If this sounds like total BS please tell me.

Sounds to me the oil control rings are out to lunch. Which means a full strip, so most sensible people would check other items like big-ends, valves, guides & seals etc. whilst its in pieces.

How many kays since last re-build?
