Hey guys, i'm looking to sell my mini in the near future - just dont require a car any more for work and have no need for it anymore.

The thing is i have no idea how much it is worth!

Since i have had the car i have spent a bit on it mechanically and it runs really well - doesnt blow any smoke etc. and the body is in good nick as there is hardly any rust (if any)

So i'd love to hear what you guys think. - If you have an questions or need more pictures im happy to do so.

Looks like a nice good little mini. The price really depends on how badly you want to sell it and who wants to buy it. You will get a wide variety of answers from various people on here but I would suggest that you start at $7,000 and be prepared to let it go at $5,000 if somebody is waving that money at you in the driveway.

There is a saying that every car has a buyer at any price but you may end up waiting six months for that right person to come along at the higher price. Thats a lot of advertising costs.

Now what was your price expectation ????

I think it depends on the engine alot. You said it doesn't smoke etc so it must be assumed it's in pretty good condition. Does it have a 1275 & disc brakes?

I would tend to think $6,000 - $7,000 if it runs a small bore, $8,000 - $9,000 if it has a 1275 with discs. As Mike said, be prepared to let it go for less if someone has the money then and there - no use hanging onto it for and extra 6 months for and extra $500.

it's hard to sell at the moment.. no one seems to be willing to pour money into a hobby car.. I watched ebay cars for a long time, plenty around $5000 - $7000, and they don't seem to be selling... not that the car isn't worth that, it's just that in the current economic climate it isnt viable for a lot of people.

It's not just here in aus either. jump on any uk mini forum and it's the same story.

if it comes with RWC and rego, put it at $6k... if not, $5k...

as an aside...
you said that you have no need for it anymore as you no longer need a car for work.. you dont own minis because you need them.. more because you want them! If I were you I'd keep it.. it looks like a solid car, and one day you may regret selling it. (been there done that).

I have no idea what it would be worth, but would be tempted in your position to hold onto it and place on Club plates with some form of classic insurance policy that restricts the distance you can drive annually. This should substantially reduce the costs of owning and, because mileage is restricted, your on-going maintenance costs will reduce too.

Like Superseven says, you may come to regret selling if you do....

On the other hand, if it is a 'needs cash' problem, we all do what we have to to solve it....

ahhhh......the interior smell of an old British car....

as another indicator... I recently bought a '68 deluxe with 1275 rebuilt and discs for approx 50% of some of the suggested prices in this thread. maybe I was lucky. it doesnt have RWC or rego, but also only needs brakes overhauled and a few minor things like speedo etc to get to RW level. only minor amount of rust in the boot.

I couldnt justify spending any more than I did. unfortunately thats how the enthusiast car market is at the moment!

Now is the worst I've seen classic car prices since the early 90s, unless you have a 70s Aussie muscle car. Mini prices have been doing down for the last 12-18 months, worse for some other classics like alfas and fiats. I am trying to sell my former boss' car at the moment and if we have to reduce the price much we may be better to part out the car. If I were you I'd hang on to it at least until christmas if you do not have to sell it.

I would recommend fixing a few things that are obvious from the pics
- ditch the fugly steering wheel
- replace the "moustache" and realign the bonnet
- replace the front & rear glass locking strips with bling chrome plastic ones

These sort of things detract and give buyers excuses to beat you down. More orignal or unmolested cars sell better. Otherwise, it looks like a nice little unit and I agree with others here quoting around $5K.

Cooper s' are possibly been helped a bit by the Aussie muscle car fad at the moment. I have seen some cooper s' advertised for 20-30k but what are they actually selling for? And for that money they are usually concourse cars. I remember a few near concourse small bore, drum braked roundnose minis changing hands around geelong for 8-10k a couple of years ago. The same cars wouldn't get that money now. Prices will bounce back but I think it will take a while. That's my view anyway, it maybe a bit different in other states.

SA prices are a fair bit lower than east coast prices also.

but yea you can start it high and lower it if theres no interest.
