Does anyone know who would stock a Pre A+ Straight Cut Primary Gear to suit a Small Bore? Has the same size bushes front/rear.

Can't even find them on the Minispares UK site.
Or MiniMania...
You could use a 1275 one with a custom thicker front bush in it.

Ive been searching Mini Spares UK. Ive emailed them ill wait for a reply. I just started searching Mini Mania. But if you have looked Kev, sounds like they dont have em either...

The issue is, the crank in my 1330 has had the lip machined off it where the 1275 larger primary gear rear bush ran. When i was rebuilding it in 2001/2, I could not source a 1275 primary gear in good condition. (the internet was in its infancy and im not sure Ebay existed). My only soloution was to machine the lip off and run the small bore primary gear as I had a good one from my 1098.

I'm pretty sure they used to make them, let's wait for John at Mini King to find this thread.
It has to be straight cut? There are heaps of 998/1098 helical ones about...

Yes must be straight cut. I will be running a straight cut gear set in the future. The racket that Steve's race motor makes got me hooked.....!

I would try Somerford Mini in the UK, they were really helpful when I needed some hard to find bits that no one else seemed to be able to help with.

I have straight cut drop gears in my motor, not so great for the road as the thrashing around (rattle) at idle can't be that great for them! :(

BUT...They do sound good! 8)

Tip: I have the Jack Knight gears and they are much better quality than some of the others available.

Hanra, Try MED or Morespeed they build Mini Seven race motors, these still use 998 cranks and the smaller primary gear. Morespeed is an ex MED employee (Simon), he got my last two S/C small primaries, I swapped for 1275 ones! :P

M.E.D's answer:

Sorry we cannot help at this point in time as all of our S/C primary gears are made for the 1275 type crankshaft, we are having a fully floating bush made to convert the 1275 gear to be used on the 998 crankshaft but these will be 6 – 8 weeks away

Be carefull with Jack Knight stuff. I think that Jack Knight went broke but the online shop is still up and taking money even though there is no one there to send the stuff out. (Sound like a good scam if you can get away with it! )
