Has anyone any experience with importing cars from NZ? Cost? Issues?

if it's something really good that you can't get here then it's a good idea , otherwise it's a costly process and appears cheaper to import from the UK or Japan .

Pre 70s is good, no import duty but GST is payable, 14 days to get import aproval and then you need to arrange freight and a customs agent this end

Nope, not allowed it. I'll let you have this one instead and consider yourself lucky.

Angus, I actually saw that 'thing' as I was trawling. Thankfully I was close to a bucket at the time. I think it should stay in Unzud as it must be heritage listed surely.

That might be a good choice. You could argue that you are not importing it, that you are just returning it home.

Nice looking car -- but after the extra costs (see links in 2nd post for details of my experience) you'd be looking around $12-$15K (and then you still might have work to do on it...) - I'm sure you could source an excellent Deluxe for that locally.

Importing - worth it for the unusual or rare (eg an Elf in my case) but you'd have to think twice for something you can already find in Australia....
