Hey just bought a 998 leyland mini and im just about to get a rebuild on the engine, i want to put extractors in while they are doing the work but i want to know if i already have them. i think i may but i just want to check to see if anyone with more know how has another opinion. The carbie manifold has been grinded off the exhaust manifold but i want to know for sure. here is some pics: Image Image Image Image

I looked at you photos in facebook

You definately have extractors - i dont know what sort though and a photo from under the car would help - but yes you have extractors.

Look like Perry 3-1 freeflows. I run them on the wife's 1293, it made 59.4HP ATW on dyno day with twin HS4s so I guess they go OK. 8)

Hi What we wanted to see if there was a "V" piece where two pipes come into one and then into the exhaust pipe to the muffler. The "V" bit is important as that tells us that it is the better type of extractors known as "Long centre branch" extractors. Can't really tell from the photos.

There is much written on here about the different types of extractors and they each perform differently.

they look like 3 to 1's to me.

3-1s are a bit less noisy than LCBs and seem to give slightly better economy.

Do you guys think they would be suitable for when i get my rebuild? its getting a 40mm delorto, bored out to 1134cc then a stage 2 cam, 1100 crank and 1100 head. Or do you think i should go for the LCB's

I like using LCBs on 1098 motors, they seem to give more torque.

Having said that I'm building myself a Moke motor with Dellorto 40, RE13 cam, modified 1275 head with the block notched, and Perry 3-1s. Why? Because I have a good set.
