ben i think they are there for strength as well as holding the dash and switches..

I left mine there and just put my starlet dash over them,, they came in handy as i could mount brackets of them to hold the toyota dash in place. Will the mira dash go over it?

the mira dash fowls the top rail in places, especialy where the central vents are , are u using the starlet heater and vent set up ? or mini heater still? also how is your column set up? would it be possible to just cut the top one out ?

no i scraped all the toyota heater, air con etc.. I also scrapped all the mini heater gear, i only got a little dicksmith computer fan hooked upto the dash for the demister :D

There is enough heat coming from the engine bay to heat the cabin in winter and in summer its all windows down.

Steering colum is standard mini, just got the lowering bracket in it. and a 70mm adjustable spacer on the boss kit to bring the wheel out further.

I would not cut the entire top part of the dash out,, maybe just cut away the bits that are fowling, i cut alittle of the top bar for my cluster and it is fine. I think the bottom bar is more structural then then the top anyway.

the starlet stalk was a little to big for the mini column, so i just put a bit of pvc pipe in between the two and clamped it on. The horn is wired in normally, I used all the toyota wiring so just hooked it up.

yes i did to begin with but found out that my horn button was stuffed on my wheel, so i hooked it upto the water sprayer button on the end of the wiper arm :D

Water sprayer button is now one of those nitrous trigger buttons on the right of the steering wheel near fog light switch.
