Post subject: | Squeaky Wheel |
Went to the Mini Muster today and all is fine going there but after 8 klms driving back home the driver's side front wheel started making a squeaky noise. Its only making the noise when rolling above 20 kph Jacked the car up and turned the wheel and there was no noise No noise coming from the shocks when I try pushing it down Anyone got any ideas as to which part is the culprit? |

Funnily enough i had a squeaky right front wheel and it turned out to be a loose and not so greased wheel bearing, not so good maintenence on my part. Check all of the bearings and throw some new grease in for good measure |

Maybe you parked too close to a mini with a sniffle... Does it make any noise when you turn the wheel? |

The noise is not really a squeal its more like a squeak the noise didnt go away when I turn the wheels while moving but no noise when the car's engine is running stationary and when I steer the wheel |

Razor, If you have Discs it could be just the pads squeaking a bit when the brakes are not being used. Try driving down the road, when you hear the noise just touch the brake pedal lightly, not enough to slow the car, and see if the noise stops...... Dave |

take pads out and scuff them on concrete that stops it sometimes gets rid of the glaze. only a little bit though just so the face of it roughs up a bit |

noise is not coming from the disc brakes had them off today you normally hear squealling like metal rubbing if theres something stuck or the disc needs machining but the noise the car has is different, kinda like suspension, rubber rubbing noise |

Mine used to squeak too. But only when stationary at certain revs. It took me ages to find. It was the radiator rubbing on the radiator shroud. Had almost rubbed through by the time I found it. |

I have a squeak from the front left of my car, it's a seized top arm shaft which is turning in the subframe when the suspension deflects. Try and pump some grease into your top arm nipple and see if that helps. |

I drove the mini again today and its definitely not the brakes as I took it apart and the squeak is still there even when applying the brakes. It more noticeable around 50kph and when slowing down. It comes and go as well so the squeaky noise is not constantly there. |
