After putting on the new wheels with black centres i thought a whit roof didint suit, so i thought i'd change it to black.
But first i'd try a black and dark grey checker for something different.
First step is to clean the roof
Image

2/ Fit the vinyl on the roof and cut off corner excess
Image

3/ Wet the roof and flip the vinyl face down so the paper side is facing up and careful peel the paper backing off
Image

4/ Wet the vinyl with a drop of detergent in a water spray bottle
Image

5/ Flip over the vinyl and position it on the roof
Image

6/ Use a squeegee to get the water out from under the vinyl
Start by going from the centre to the back of the car, then the centre to the front of the car, then work your way back to the sides leaving the corners to last
Image

7/ Now for the tricky part, using a heat gun heat the edge of the vinyl to soften it up, then use your small squeegee to push the fluid and the wrinkles out to the edge.
Nice and slow is the way to go with this moving from the centre of the corners out towards the sides

8/ After working the edges to the gutter, heat and push in the edges up to the edge of the outside gutter. Once happy trim it back with a sharp scalpel.
If you need to clean up the edge on the gutter, wrap a 15-20mm pinstripe aroung the outside of the gutter and cover the edge you have just cut.
Alternatively if your roof is the same colour as the body work you can trim the vinyl to the roof edge.

Then stand back and admire your work...

Awesome Shane, you've done it again! :P

As if you aren't busy enough, now think of all those roofs you'll be doing!

I thought this was going to be a very ordinary idea until I saw the pictures - I like!

Where do you get the vinyl and what colours/patterns can you get?
