Post subject:  Cleaning engine bay

I did my search and didnt find any posts detailing cleaning, so what do we recommend to clean a dirty dusty engine bay?
The car was garaged for best part of 10 years, rats, chooks and shearing shed dust have all left their mark (even under the bonnet)

I was thinking buy a 2L of degreaser and put it through the spray gun, follow it with truck wash via the same method?

Would that work? or will truck wash/detergent become froth after going through a spray gun?

I thought the kitchen bottle washer/brush will get into the hard to get areas along with the spray gun..

Ideally this should have been done when the engine was out, but alas that too was overlooked :(

I recently sprayed a whole can of $2 degreaser from Super Crap Auto (avoiding important areas of the engine) and hosed it off. It worked beautifully, even on the areas I thought I'd have to brush down first.

I got a cheap can or wax and grease remover. Drenched the sump and other areas in it and the dirt just flowed off the bottom. Then the engine was pressure washed.
Came up pretty good.
The best way is to steam clean it.
