My basic induction pickup light has died - do I need anything more fancy for the Mini? I note 1- the prices have gone up considerably 2- you can get anything from a basic flasher through reverse polarity protected, one with ignition advance adjustment to all the bells and whistles with dwell meter and rev counter.
And I just want to just check the timing :? I have a dwell meter and rev counter so don't need that but what about the ignition advance - any use?

Hi David,

I have one with the ignition advance and it is great! Well worth the $$ I think, especially if you don't have many timing marks on the flywheel, allows very accurate and quick assessment!

Cheers

Matt

Maybe not the answer you want but you can borrow mine if you like, nothing fancy, just an induction type.

How much is it roughly for one of the fancy ones? It would be nice to get it spot on...

Ive got one with most of the bells and whistles, its a Hella brand worth the extra $$$'s so you dont have to keep changing meters to check all the things like dwell, rpm, etc....
If you'd like i can get the model number from it tomorrow for you. I got mine from bursons (i dont know if there is a bursons up nth of the borders :? )

sorry for the slight hijack, what do people think of the TFT timing lights?

so spending the extra $$ on timing lights are worth it then?
what are the rough idea on prices?

I ended up odering one of these from the UK last night http://www.mgocaccessories.co.uk/acatalog/Gunsons.html

$82 will work out under $100 I think - a lot cheaper that the $150-200 I was looking at locally.
