Well spotted. Definately been over, and probably more than once. My olf Rally car (not a mini) had a similar dome top appearance after it first arseabout. they're never quite right are they?

BTW: g'day danidad. I hope you don't think I'm all bad. :(

I am sure it is the short circuit at AP but I do recall them using the complex for a spectator stage in some big rallies like the Sourthern Cross as well as self contained rallies within the complex.

Post subject:  nice pics

These are nice pics. They are all off the autopics.com.au website. First one is Ted Brewster at Calder. We've got an interview with Ted coming up in issue 3 of The Mini Experience (out in early June).
All of the other three photos are featured in our second issue (coming out in the next week or two). In fact every issue of The Mini Experience features some fantastic period photographs from the Autopics archive.

Quick details on the other three pics above -
First one is Paddy Hopkirk in ex-UK Works rally Mini LRX 828E, in 1967 Southern Cross Rally. Third pic is Evan Green in same car, then repainted in Aussie colours of Castrol Green and white.
Second pic is Don Holland (left) in his privately-built lightweight Mini, and Bob Holden in factory-built lightweight, at Warwick Farm, 1967.
We have a full feature on the Works Minis, and factory supported teams, in Australia, in Issue 2 of the mag, plus an extensive feature on the ex-Works car LRX 828E.
Watto.

 Sorry if I confused you all with pic numbering. First pic is of course the Ted Brewster pic, then just add one to all the others. ie: second pic is Hopkirk, third is Holland/Holden, fourth is Green. All other details as I said earlier.
I was just detailing the last three pics and muddled myself up.
Watto.

I'm deffinitely getting forgetful in my old age. Pic of Evan Green, yes I think it is at Amaroo. However, the caption on the autopics website is incorrect, as this pic is from the 1968 Southern Cross Rally, not the BP Rally.
I agree that Bob Holden's roof does look dome-shaped. I don't know any details, as I haven't asked Bob about that, but it might also have something to do with the fact the car was lightened so much that it had little strength left in the roof (?). I'll try and ask him about that when I next see him.
Good chance he might be at Phillip Island this weekend (racing his Escort)
Cheers, Watto.

No worries Gafmo. Gives me a chance to plug the magazine again (that's The Mini Experience....in case anyone missed it!) BTW it's Autopics, not Autospeed
