Post subject:  Testimonial to the practicality of the Mini!

today i moved back to mum and dad's place, and I had to put all my stuff in my car. Of course, I had doubts as to whether or not all my stuff would fit in the car! here is a photo and a list of everything:

1 x Homer Simpson
1 x portable stereo
1 x shopping basket full of crap
1 x small bin
1 x giant poster
1 x wet floor sign
2 x bag of clothes
1 x Playstation
1 x Atari
1 x box of Atari games
3 x signs (oversize, protective equipment must be worn in this area and mini cooper-drive the legend)
1 x bag of bathroom stuff
1 x old firefighting boots
1 x thongs
1 x big jar of pickled onions
1 x homer simpson fridge guard
1 x crate of assorted crap (cd's, movies...)
1 x 10L esky
1 x washing basket (with washing included!)
1 x pillow case (containing pillow, several clases and a couple of plates)
1 x sleeping bag
1 x queen size fitted sheet
4 x Macca's trays
1 x frisbee
several shirts and jumpers on hangers
not including the stuff that is already in there (spare tyre, tools, etc...)

Image

before you ask, I set all the stuff up to take a photo from the side of the car, but it wasn't working

You forgot...

1 x Driver

Over in Adelaide, we had to go from Mike's (dr trims) mates place to Mike's place and I couldn't be bothered driving, cause I had just driven 800km! Well he had to take 2 massive rolls of trim (thats why they call him dr trim) aswell. Funny stuff that was! 3 guys and 2 massive rolls of trim!

Oh yeah, it was a comfortable drive too. i couldn't fit my clothes horse in the car (it wouldn't have fitted even if it was empty!) which turned out good cos it was needed at the house! i'll pick it up next week probably, as well as anything i forgot, which i probably did

I drove only about 60 kms, from my old place in werribee to mum and dad's place in Clifton Springs

That reminds me of when my mothers husband actually put roof racks on his Mini and carted a wardrobe from Sydney up to Katoomba that was in the days before the new motorway and you had to go up the winding roads via emu plains etc..

I put a single bed caravan mattress in the van once. Removed the passenger's seat and slid it in on the passenger's side. I couldn't see to my left very well!!

A mate put a single bed complete with mattress on the roof of his 850 and drove from Geelong to Lorne. Ploice gave him a dirty look, but didn't pull him up.

Pffft - Try a DOUBLE bed AND the mattress on the roof as well as a 500cc Yamaha trail bike in the back. All the other incidentals of daily living squished in around the bike.

Moving 330Km in one trip - There is nothing a Mini Van can't do [go Kermit]

when the only cars we had were Minis, it made the christmas trip fun. 500km in the back seat with my sister, a birdcage, and two budies, plus assorted other crap. we also had roof racs with all the luggage fitted up top.

63 cm TV, in it's box, in my Cooper S. The sales guy couldn't believe it, he got all the other sales guys to have a look too - he said that people with falcons and commodore sedans have to take theem out of the box to get them in their cars...

both front seats out, passenger seat folded and laid down on the back seat, TV box in the space where the passenger seat is, with the back of the box up on the back seat. Drivers seat back in and I drove home.... wish I took a picture

I've deliberately taken the Mini van when purchasing a washing machine and a dryer (on seperate occasions!) just to see the salesmans reaction when I load it into the Mini! :D

i bought a 51 cm in its box.
the salesmen was like. WTF!

it was the biggest mission. i drove sitting over the steering wheel coz i had to adjust my seat as far forward as it could go.

good days
