looked at a 75 clubby panelvan today and it seemed ok, needs some work but one thing puzzled me. the owner couldnt work out what engine size it was, he thinks it may be a 1100. i went and check the engine number and the only numbers i could see was 133. i looked at the complience plate and i couldnt work it out there either.

does anyone know what 133 would be?

Why is that a shame? That's gotta be the easiest bearing to fix...

It's what's left after he has used an undersize grinding wheel on the block to remove the dodgy engine number  There must be more then that, any pics????

What engine number was on the rego papers?
Yes I know you probably didn't see them - it's a rhetorical question (i put this in first as I can predict what Joe's response would be :D )

The only time the engine number is going to be an issue previously is if it had been issued a blue slip or been over the old "pits" years ago. Did it have fairly new style numberplates or original issue?

If it had got onto the system in the days when matching of details was less of an issue for the RTA, then it has probably been allowed to stay that way. However, it could very well become a problem in the future for you or other prospective buyers.
It could also be that the original (or legally registered) block has been skimmed and partially removed the numbers. Sounds like the current owner is oblivious to this though.

If you get pulled up by the police for a random roadworthy check it could cause a problem.

hmmm. well i couldnt see any more numbers after it and they werent neatly punched on in line. they were alil out of line to eachother. well considering that this van was on ebay alil while ago. remember the checker plate interior van? thats the one i check out and i think the engine number would be the least of my worries

It really looked better on ebay. i'd rather buy the one in the ausmini for sale section looks like a much nicer van. Probaly wont give you any trouble like this one could if the engine number is dodgy.

cheers TUCK3R
