Post subject:  Gap between flares and body

hello all i have just fitted the sportspack flares to my mini. think i did an ok job but i have one question.

where there is a larger gap than the black strip that comes with them betweent the flare and the body what can i do to fill that gap?

also where the flares end, eg front lip and back edge of the flare (where they curl under the bumpers), should i fix that edge in place or leave it? how would i go about this.

figured i could silicone it, etch prime and paint?

will load some pics tonight to make it clearer

Silicon and paint don't mix. One will eat the other.
Look for a wider rubber strip, it'll look neater.

Not always true, there are silicones which are acidic and ones which are not (waterbased). Look for the right product and you might get the result you are after.

I would be looking for a wider rubber strip. If you find a silicone that is paintable then over time the paint will most likely crack as the panel flexes in use.

Use Sikaflex, it cures to a polyurethane rubber and is paintable.
I like grade 291, I get it from Bias Boating warehouse. Comes in black, or white...
