G'day All,

As some of you may and may not know, I've been on the look out for a mini for a project in the sub $1,000.

Well, someone (BMC997) emailed me and told me they had a '64 850 for the taking. We agreed on a very nice price (for me) and I shall be picking up most of it on Saturday (13th).

It has matching numbers, comes with original number plates, all books (including stamped service book).

It's currently stripped bare. Almost. The shell has been stripped, sandblasted and then painted with a protective coat. The doors, boot and bonnet are still untouched, the bonnet has a touch of surface rust. The bloke is chucking in a set of wind up window doors, as that's really what i want.

I'm obviously not a purist but I won't be mutilating the poor thing into some unrecognizable state.

Anyway, more later. Pics now.

Josh.

My basic plan will be to have it look periodic (notice i didn't say original) So it'll have extra gauges but they will me Smiths, custom dash but nothing loutish... different grill and such, flares... maybe a modern take on it's original colour... which was something or other blue.

I'll be sure to set up a proper project thread when I finally have it in my garage.

Josh.

Only a mini enthusiast would buy a car and pick up "most of it" in one trip :)

Good luck with the project. Sounds a bit like my project, which has stalled a bit but soon to get underway again when the weather's a bit better. I'm aiming for a period sports look with modern components (metro brakes & engine, 12x6 wheels but chrome rear spot, sliding windows, original brightwork and interior).
