O.k. so i have put a late 90's rover cooper motor into my car ...
not running any of the injection or electronic ignition But i have put on a 40mm weber and extractors and a standard dizzy with points ...
What i want to know is would it be making much if any more power than from when it was injected ... from the way i figure it a motor is only going to use as much fuel as it needs so what sort of intake it has shouldn't make a difference .... Extractors well injected mini's had a fairly nice exhaust manifold so once again i wouldn't think it would make a huge difference ...

The injection on Mini's was never designed to make max power, it was done because of emissions legislation in Japan and the UK. My guess is you'd make more power with a well set up Weber and LCB/RC40 than the stock injection.

Unless your points dizzy is set up properly you'll make more power with some electronics in that department, though..

Late model rovers were about 72 (someone correct me!) HP, pretty damn close to cooper s HP figures on a bucketload less fuel. The downside is that fuel injection is difficult to modify with a replacement computer. I'm putting EFI into my 77 clubbie - reasonable power, better economy and an engine that largely tunes itself.

i was just curuious because there is a dyno day coming up that i will be in with the car and i wanted to know if it was the weber and extractors or just the swiftune cam making the difference..

Late Rovers were 62 or 63HP, nowhere near a Cooper S's 75. :lol: The MG Metro (single HIF44) had the 72HP figure. :wink:

the late injected "Cooper" engines were 63 HP. but this "Cooper" engine is the same as the 60 HP Metro engine
