if he doesn't get it working can i have the fuel tank i have been told it will fit into the rear subframe of a mini with a little bit of work

hey guys i was at a mate house the other day and they own a austin healey sprit and i wanted to no is there any difference in the motors between that and a 1100cc ????????? |

no like is there any difference bewteen the blocks cause like i no theres is rear wheel drive and there gear box ect different but is there any difference between the blocks |

Yes the blocks are different - rear main cap is different. Yes with a bit of work you could convert it but why would you? 998/1100 Mini blocks aren't that scarce. |

oh casue my mates needs a 1100 hundred crank casue is crank is shot and i was just seeing if a standard mini 1100 crank would fit into the motor would that work |

As Anto has said , the flywheel ends of the crank are very different , the mini one has the long nose to take the mini specific clutch setup (clutch between the flywheel and motor) whereas the Sprite was more on the conventional lines (clutch behind the flywheel and motor) . From memory there was a UK Marina with the 1100 and 1275 longitudinal motors so might be worth trying contacts in the UK . Not sure about Morris Minors either but I think they only had a 998 and not an 1100 (someone else can answer that one ) . |

Late model Morris Minors did have 1100s from about 1962, however in Aus the Minor had been discontinued by then. You will find the odd imported model though. Doesn't really make it any easier to find an 1100 RWD crank though! |

A Morris Minor fellow I knew spent a few hundred dollars getting a 1275 crank converted to inline by welding a drive flange in place of the tail. I don't know how desperate Sprites are for cranks however, and if it would be worth it... |

I would suggest he talk to Colin Dodds at Spriteparts. Colin was located around the back of Kellyville somewhere. I know he moved, not sure how far out. He did have a website last time I looked. KB |

Note there are 2 different RWD 1098 cranks, Sprite Mk2 had 1.75" main bearings, the Mk2A had 2.0".
