Hey all, Is there a Kit you can buy to make minis wide track? if not how do you do it? and is it road legal in NSW? |

spaced drums. disc brakes widen the track also. |

You can fit spacered drums (as fitted to cooper s and mokes) which have an inch or so spacer cast into the brake drums legally . Any other form of spacer that isn't part of the drum and wasn't on as orriginal fitment is illegal (have a look in the laws sticky in A/A+ modifications , at least that's where I think it is) . |

Anything other than original spacer drum's will require an engineering certificate and may not pass so talk to an engineer first if you want to do something wild . |

I had a Cooper in the 70's with wheels that were widened outward to the extent that 165 tyres stuck about 80mm outside the guards. I thought it was cool but it was a pig to drive. The bump steer was horrendous. It makes the steering sharper but ruins the balance of the car. Constantly fighting the car unless on a really smooth road. Probably wouldn't get away with it these days. Pete |
