Has anyone had trouble with their vavle stem seals binding on the inner valve spring ? |

No fancy setup just a 1100 S head and double valve spring set part no. vsp3964p and John I am not sure about the spring locators ... interesting |

I think you have one of our cataloges, If you do have a look on page 20 item 65 that is what it looks like some cylinder heads have this machined into the head Part Number AEA403 |

unfortunately I am yet to get a catalouge , I have a retail price guide from 13/10/91 however I did find it elsewere and I don't remember them being there when the valves were removed the other day, I will talk to the fixer . Thank You , it appears that the seal has been moving with the valve and pumping oil down the guide ? both inlet chambers were soaked in oil . |

That sounds to me classic symptoms of fitting a Cooper S type valve stem seal to a guide that does not have the locating groove. The end result is the valve stem seal turns into an oil pump. Your valve guides need to be this type in order to hold the stem seal properly:
