I have recently added a set of discs(new wheel bearings), and rebushed the front end of my hyrdo deluxe, it was also treated to another gearbox(2nd hand).New rubber uni's went in with this lot too.
I have a few issues now its all back together and running. If i go over a bump i get quite a nasty snap oversteer, which isnt pretty..... Now, also whilst accelerating i am getting torque steer to the left, now going hard, just normal moving off the line keeping up with traffic, this also leads to tyre squeel on the drivers side front. It all feels loose when driving, but it is all tight to the spanner? i am at a loss as to why it it such a pig, any ideas peoples?

possibly wheel alignment, to much toe out/negative toe (what ever you'd like to call it).
check the steering arms that came off the car against the ones on the car they may have slightly different angles causing the cars geometry to be out.

Could it also be diff preload ? Did you put the new S/H box straight on as is or rebuild it ?

Interesting point, I should get a wheel alignment done on it, but would like to investigate further prior to paying for one and then needing get another because i have had to fix somthing. Any other possible causes. I keep getting the feeling the diff may be a little dodgy, could this cause it to pull one way?

If the diff had been pulled apart at anytime and new seals put in the pre load will be up the creek if new shims had not been put in. The new seals are 15 thou thick x 2 = 30thou as opposed to the original ones at 5-7 thou thick - as you need 2 thou pre load you can see if new seals were added without reshimming the diff bearings will move all over the place. I ended up getting a 6 , 10 and 20 thou shims from the UK and used all of them plus some of the old ones :shock:

I was too late to apply the Doc's suggestion of not useing the new seals and use a paint on seal and therefore get away with not using such thick shims.

Aaron, truth is that its torque steer - bwahaha, sorry just kidding.
If the diff preload is out yes it will pull... worryingly also, if the diff is buggered or planet gear, it pulls under accelleration. I know of one in particular that would pull on hard accelleration at around 70-80km/h and would shift you across lanes (wasnt actually torque steer but the diff) which eventually went bang.

I would jack it up and check if the wheels spin freely as it maybe a binding caliper as BIAM suggested
Reccommend removing the steering arms from the old hubs and check them against the ones on the discs, if they are of a lesser angle than the ones from your old hubs fit the old hubs steering arms as this will lessen the toe out/neg toe angle slighty (i had to do this when i fitted discs) but i would still suggest a wheel alignment.
When you go over a bump and it pulls does the tyre rub on the guard as this will also cause it to pull quite harshly. The discs give a slightly wider track to that of non spacered drums.

The box and diff came from what was supposed to be a runner? but who knows..... Nothing was done to it other than checking to make sure that all was half decent.

It could well be rubbing on the arches, but i do have a good 5cm or so from wheel to arch. I will check the arms, i will check BIAM's suggestion and i will have a look at the diff,not that i can do much about it other than pull the motor out and replace it again...... Fun for me.
Any other thoughts?

Ok, rise height on the drivers side in about half an inch lower. This is causing it to rub and certain angles of steer. I think i will swap the steering arms as they are definatly different..... i tried doing a basic (I mean by eye) wheel alignment and that just made it worse, so i think we are on the right track. Will swap the arms and then take it for a , pump up, wheel alignment, and have it tuned while i am at it.... joy.... too many mini's, just too many.....
