I finally tracked down why my wipers are in need of a lift. The lug on the end of the wiper rack has come loose from the cable. Anyone else had this problem? Can it be fixed with some sort of adhesive or grub screw or am I better off getting a new wiper rack from Mini spares?

I got one of those - it's longer than you need but easy enough to cut to length. You wind the gear so it's as far left as possible trim it off a couple of inches past the driver side wiper box replace the last short piece of tube and the surplus slides in and out that short tube.
