ok, it had t come out, and I thought you might be interested to see the insides of the late model Clubman heater.
The lever that controls the heat on, heat off is totally buggered, but in effect all it is is a tap, so I can just put a tap in its place and I can turn the heat on or off.. would the licensing man be ok with that? Id put the tap in the cab under the heater unit, easy to get to, I cant see there would be a problem. But if I can get a replacement heater control valve I guess it would be called, at a reasonable price, then it would be nice that the lever on the dash controls it. Does anyone know if they are available?

After I pulled it apart

and the fully exploded view:

the bit in my hand is the flap that controls where the airflow goes. It's also operated by a slide lever on the dash and that now works fine after a dose of CRC. The foam will need to be stripped and replaced, but otherwise the flap will work.
The heater core: I put the hose through one side and to my surprise water came out the other pipe. So its ok too, If I wanted full time heater I could just connect it up to the heater hoses on the engine, but Id like to have it working so I'll endeavour to replace the heat control valve lever bit.

The only thing left to test is the fan itself. It has 2 wires coming from it. Can I touch one to one side of the battery and the other to the other side to see if it works, or will that be too much current and blow it up? Alternatively, can I connect one wire to one side of the fuse box, and the other to the other side? I just want to know if it works. Ah brainwave... I can sit it on the cab floor and connect it up to its correct wiring and see if it works there Dont worry about the fan then, I'll check that later.

So all I need is a replacement heater valve switch, anyone know off hand where I can get one and what they are worth?

all i know is my heater tap doesnt work, therefore my heater doesnt. its strange because the switch is set to hot. i think i have a pipe blockage somewhere. everything else works fine

i have the same heater in mine. we ahd to make it work for RWC, now it doesnt

Often it's the tap itself which is blocked. They are a $70 POS... as said in the other thread, we gave ours a tapectomy- no more problems!

One guy I know replaced his valve with a Holden one. You can still connect up the cable to it.

My K van has a tap on the top of the head instead of the elbow piece, like on a Cooper S. A cable on the dash opens/closes it.

Mr RWC shouldn't care how you do it, as long as it works.

Yes, I found out today that Repco sell a universal heater valve suiatble for a holden, ford and now Mini.. for $51.

Its cable operated, will get one this week and post after I have it fitted (if it works).

Repco also sell Washer tank and motors $51
and Radiator overflow tanks $24

These are both a universal type item, but will do me unless I can find something else.
