LOL! I was just wondering what gaps people were using on their spark plugs. I was using 0.8mm gaps, but they were always fouling up before I could use the buggers. At the moment, I'm trialing 1.1mm gaps on my 1430cc with 40DCOE Weber (with rich jets). I couldn't believe how fast I took off after the change, and not just because they were new plugs! I am expecting them to burn pretty quickly though, but meh... |

LRP or Unleaded? fouling of the plugs is normally caused by either incorrect gap or wrong heat range if they still foul you might wanna try changin the heat range can't remember if it was to one hotter or one colder bosch released a statement on it a while ago as there were big problems with the LRP crap have done it on several cars and works a treat pretty sure it was the heat range that heated up quicker (lower heat range) just means that the plugs get hot enough to self clean properly instead of just fouling up yep just checked the research material for ya and its one heat range colder and can close the gap by 0.1-0.2 normally just change the heat range is all it takes hope this helps somebody can also send adobe document if you can't find it on website cause i couldn't be bothered looking for it now other question is ignition system, standard coil/ dizzy? will be somethin to take into consideration when choosing plugs and gap |

That is a bloody hot plug- Normal for a Mini (Cooper S etc) is a W7DC, I run W6DC in mine (colder)- as it's well modified and has 10.4:1 C/R. Note Bosch's heat range numbers go opposite direction to NGK. Bosch W7DC = NGK BP6ES, Bosch W6DC = NGK BP7ES. Approximately.... 
re plug gaps- I run 0.9-1.0mm plug gaps with the Pulsar electronic dizzys, but that's way too wide for stock coil and Lucas points ignition. |

I am currently using BP6ES plugs and no problems at all. Can the wrong Plug Temp range cause pinging in a motor or not. |

I only use premium unleaded (preferably BP Ultimate). I was using the NGK BP6ESs at one stage. I remember when I bought the car and tried to get the spark plugs out, I couldn't! LOL! The guy I bought it from was an aviation engineer and ran the thing on avgas! But I had it all retuned to run on boring ol' premium... Sigh... |
