Morning lads, Here are a couple of photos of the drain holes on my two cooper s's. Just wondering how prevalent these were vs. the "normal" ones I've usually seen on UK minis, i.e. the larger hole that's sort of shaped like an American football or a pointy rugby ball? You can also see the history of the 1970 just for fun--the tamarisk green on the bottom layer was the original monotone color, then came red, then tamarisk green again (but a few shades darker) and finally someone added the crystal white roof. tx, bmc ![]() ![]() |

im pretty sure damn near all aus cars had the two holes, i know every mini ive seen with them has had the two holes, never seen the "oval" shaped one. (by the way, i love that second pic, howd you manage to strip the paint back like that?) |

Thanks Drifter. That's funny, my body/paint man here in Seattle said, "I've never seen one with two holes. Every one I've ever seen has had the oval holes." He has a '66 mini deluxe from NZ in the shop, and it also has the oval ones (998 MKI). On the paint--I just used a foam sanding block in a circular motion to work through the layers to bare metal. But caution; it leaves the layers sort of bumpy, and it will have to be stripped all the way or filled to get it smooth again. In my case I'll be stripping it. tx, bmc |

All ausie minis had the 2 holes, and all English cars have the oval gutter hole. Your 2 cars must be ausie built |

I had a 1978 Oz Clubby with NO front holes- it never got them. Maybe Mr Hole Driller had a day off... ![]() |

The NZ car would have the slots/ovals because they were an english car. Ryan |

bmc The holes shown in your photos are correct for your model car, Early Aust Cars did have a slot But it was a neat slot not the type that looked like it had been punched Out with scoop underneath, NZ had Aust Built Cars UK built cars and some SKD & CKD cars |

Hi John, I don't believe NZ ever assembled Aussie pressed CKD Mini bodies, they were all English. Regards Al |

Hey Simon, I'm really torn on the roof color. It is presently crystal white, with white bonnet stripes also (I assume these never came on a cooper s, similar to UK?). These two items look really sharp on the car, but I am also really drawn to the original "authentic" scheme, which was monotone tamarisk green. Hmmm.... Other votes out there? bmc |

Hot damn i got something right! I'd go authentic, too many cooper s' out there with the stripes and white roof. |

Of course there's heaps out there like that - didn't you know all mini's ever produced were cooper S's and they were either green or white with a white roof and bonnet stripes? ![]() ![]() |
