Post subject: | Gas filler location on Traveller. |
Most Travellers/Vans/Pickups I've seen have the petrol filler recessed on the right posterior corner of the vehicle. I found a 1961 Traveller for a friend of mine and it has the petrol filler just below the posterior inferior corner on the left rear window. I looked through my collection of pictures and only saw one other Traveller with the filler in this location. Also I should mention that the petrol tank in his vehicle is mounted inside the vehicle, not underneath. So what is the deal with his Traveller? Is this normal for early Travellers? Anyone know for sure. I had a call one day from a guy who had this car because he heard I had one and wanted to know if I wanted his as well. I was located closer to a friend that lived a few hours away and not on the island so I told him about it and he picked it up for $400. It has some rust but it has not been molested, it was mostly disassembled but it had all the parts with it. It's going to be a while before he restores it but it will be stored inside until he does. ![]() ![]() |

I was told that early travellers had those ones and then later ones had the undercarriage tanks. Somebody else will know for sure |

That's a funky looking tank and it would hold a bit aswell. Just think a later van with one of them fitted aswell would go for weeks with out a top up ![]() |

Hi all, Internal tank Travellers/Countrymans went through until late 1961 I believe. My Jan 61 Countryman has the internal tank. Garry |

Cooper S s hate my woody because on a good run it always out handles them and as previously quoted my back seat is empty because all my gear is in the back . (someones not going to like this , switch off that fan there is brown stuff coming out of it) |

The travellers are not lighter than sedans by any means, they`re actually heavier |
