I already have two shelves on a large bookcase full of books just on mini's , a lot of them only have a small chapter on the kit cars , be great to see them all together to see how the mini's unique features have been interpretated and used by other designers . |

This says it all for me ![]() Synopsis This is the first book to focus solely on the cars derived from the classic Mini. Small GTs, sports cars, roadsters and fun cars: Mini-derivatives made the specialist motoring market roar in the sixties, but after that they didn’t fade away. The seventies, eighties, and nineties saw new variants on the car that simply wouldn’t die – some genius, some crazy, but always out of the ordinary and colorful. From the well known Mini Marcos and Unipower GT that even raced at Le Mans, to the very obscure but at least as exciting Coldwell GT or Sarcon Scarab, almost 60 cars are thoroughly researched, described and photographed. Many of the people originally involved with designing and building them were interviewed, and some cars that were thought to be long gone were found during the researching of this book. Others weren’t, but nevertheless made it in as old material came to light. Of the over 500 pictures in this book, most have never been seen in print before. Just like the enthusiasm needed to build the cars described, this book has been written with a true passion. |

Jeroen is from Holland and has contributed a couple of times to The Mini Experience. Issue 17 will also be looking at just a handful of Mini-based derivatives and specials, and Jeroen has contributed with a story on the Wildgoose - a Mini van-based camper. We've also got a BMC Mini Tractor, the Australian-built Mini-Trac snowmobile, Mini Jem, the Silver Flea, Nota Fang and more. If this sort of thing turns you on then grab the next issue of TME. If that leaves you wanting more, then grab Jeroen's book - it is due out by the end of the year, and as soon as we have one in hand we will be doing a review of it in TME. By the way, many of the photos of Australian cars in the book are courtesy of The Mini Experience. Cheers, Watto. |

Thought that might have been the case when I saw the Australian car's listed (Lolita's , Fang , Pellandini ...) watto . Never heard of the silver flea , be interested to see it in the mag (getting some vague memory of a mini engined speedway car with a similar name now though) . |

Nope, nothing like it. The Flea was built in Victoria a few years ago by Ray Porteous and his brother, and is based on the Terrapin from the 1960s. Ray uses it regularly in hillclimbs. It is slow (998cc) but a lot of fun. Cheers, Watto. |
