There was a post about this a bit earler, there are two different types of connectors one with one more wire than the other. Using a small screwdriver you can pop out all the brass connectors and put them in the appropriate plug (look at a wiring diagram).
The additional wire is for a flash / dimmer for your headlights and will work if you connect it to 12 volt power.

The indicator stalks as far as I know aren't cheap last time I checked it was $90 -100 for a second hand one but I dare say they might have been trying to rip me off.
