I drove down to canberra the other day to pick up a flea bay item....A deluxe shell (Minidrifter is now the new owner). Anyway, I leave home, travel down the M4. About 4 km's before the M7 I here bang....... I look into the rear view mirror and see parts of a tyre fly into the windscreen of the car behind me. I pull over, get out and see the tyre on my trailer had blown. OK......I change the tire and continue on. (Just to explain, my trailer is single axle, and has 9" Boat trailer rims and commercial tyres) I arrive in Canberra, throw the shell onto the trailer and head back home. About 20km before Goulburn, Crusing along listenening to Delta Goodrim (It was the only cd the wife left in the car)...... I start hearing a druming sound......About 5 seconds later I saw something moving to the left hand side of the car...I look out the window and see a tyre and rim shoot past the car then an almight crash.... I look in the rear view mirror and see the trailer come crashing on the road. I then brake and pull over. HOLD CRAP WHAT HAS HAPPENDED!!! I get out and walk to the trailer and see the wheel is gone...... The tyre and rim come off completely and flew into a paddock. Some poor dood driving behind me got a winscreen full of wheel nuts and studs. He walked over to me and says, "Wow man that was awewsome, the wheel actually over took you...man it was flying" I then had images of women and children standing on the side of the road getting hit by a 9" Boat trailer tyre. The wheel studs had ripped away from the axle hub due to fatigue and age. Anyway, this guy says, "I'll drive you to Goulburn, there is a great tyre place there. We can fix at least one of your rims and get you going". Im thinking.......Ok.....I get in the car and off we go....go....go.....are we taking off because the last time I looked at his speedo it was at 190km/h.......... OMG IM GONNA DIE. I then said, "Dude I saw the coppa's here like 30 mins ago", His reply, " Better slow down hey!". So he slows down to 140km/h...... Anyway we hit Goulburn, get tyre replaced. He then drives me to a trailer place to buy a new hub/bearing/nuts. This CHAMP then drives me back to the car and helps me get it all back together and the tyre back on.
This guy was a bogan, revhead, unemployed, dole bludger (I confirmed all this whilst talking with him at 190km/h, he even told me he is frauding the system) But I thank you good citizen because without you, my trailer and mini shell would have been sitting all alone on the side of the road. Ok my life flashed before my eyes when I looked at the speedo...... I had pictures of the car rolling and rolling when you lost control, I saw my own funeral..........
Moral of the story...I duno...though you ,might all wanna hear about my adventure. Ok I had discusions with a trailer place today, purchased 2 new rims, tyres, hubs and bearings. Will return to buy new hitch, hydralic brakes and so on......

Those crap crossply 9" tyres and their wheels belong on a wheelbarrow IMO. Yes I ran them for years on a boat trailer, they are only just a tyre...
Fit some 13" rims and low profile radials, much safer and handles way better.

Makes me feel a bit better..... and it had been sitting around idle the past year or two before that...

Main thing is everyone and everything survived Ok......

Yep towed great when I used it and a heap easier to shift around the yard than the box trailer I use now
( which triggered me needing a Hernia operation (now recovering) trying to drag it round the corner of the house ..
now bought some "go-jacks" - cheaper than another operation! )

Good luck with the "improvements" ...

I hope this bloke has some luck come his way now. Good to hear people helping others out in times of need.
