Here's what it said:

Hi, I'm looking to buy a mini if interested let me know M**** (phone number).

:? no way i'm selling my mini!

If anyone has a mini they wish to sell and wants to give this guy a call...PM me and i'll pass on his number. I'm not going to call him.

I've had that happen to me before, a couple of times actually.

Never called them although I do keep the cards, makes me feel good when someone does that

It was nice to see a note on my window but it was also a bit upsetting that someone would think I'd want to sell my mini.

I can't blame the guy for trying though

That happens quite often to me here in Canada. Or people knock on my door. I must admit I do the same. That is how I have ended up with nearly every car I've ever owned. Sometimes you luck out and they actually want to sell, or they are just surprised and give you a great deal because they aren't using the vehicle and just want it gone but are too lazy to do something about it. Can't blame them for trying.

Yes it does happen, but on my cars I've only ever had people bothering me as I get out or in to my car at a carpark. I've had a few people who have apparantly not been looking for a Mini but when saw mine suddenly wanted one, problem is they seem to think it's not much more than their '94 Crappodore. Then there's the other end, the older guys. Which has happened at work a few times, they say they'll give me 10 grand, or even 15 grand  . But you know they are just wanking on in front of their friends and when it would come down to it, they wouldn't pay.

However, I'm not interested in selling anyways.

I reckon it would be a bit scary seeing a note on your windscreen! You would be a bit nervous I reckon.......

Still, wouldn't it be great to get a note from someone wanting to buy your car when you wanted to sell it!

I can see both sides for sure - I am looking for a mini and missed a few (which I afterwards convinced myself were not quite right for me anyway!) and now it seems Murphy's Law is at work - ready to go and nothing around. Sure as a Cooper S can go around a Falcon in the twisties in 1967, the minute you buy one, you'll see a better one for sale for less than you paid just in the next suburb!!!!!!!

Still, there's the thrill of the chase!

I bought my mini in sydney, and we brought it home to melbourne on a car trailer. When we stopped at a servo on the hume for fuel and drinks, i had an elderly man stop me and offer me 5grand cash to take the mini. I'd only owned it for 5 hours!! I just laughed at him, so he opened his wallet and showed me the cash. I nearly died. lol

That has happened to me when I had my old heap of a 1982 Falcon station wagon... I can't imagine why anybody would have wanted it.

On a related note, I was watching the 850 on eBay the other day, and went to bid with about a minute to go, and eBay took well over a minute to refresh the page. Consequently, I missed out... Now, if I could only stick a note under its windscreen wiper......

I do now need a new mouse for my Apple too. I broke when i whacked it on the desk in frustration.

ive had about 4 notes on my car.

2 of them asking if i wanted to sell my car when ive parked it at the uni near the school leaving me a phone number

1 of them offered me $2500  to which i found out it was a friend of a friend....i told him "to tell him he's dreaming!"

and 1 of them was a bit of a memorable note telling me "in future could you please park your vehicle ELSEWHERE!" when i was being a funny bugger and parked in the schools garden when i couldnt find a carpark   (on some chipbark not plants though) i was the only car that would have fit in there....so i took advantage of this

some friends who go to the school said it was one of the funniest things they've seen as there was about 3 teachers waiting for me to come back to my car :P

I've had two offers in the last week to buy mine. Its not that good , still lots of work to do on it but I've put too much into it to want to sell. My wife on the other hand would love me to sell it.

I have also had notes from people wanting to sell me Minis. I bought my Traveller from a guy who saw the Minis I already had so he knocked on my door to see if I might want to buy his Traveller. I also had a guy call me randomly from a town about 5 hours ago that heard I was into Minis to see if I wanted his Traveller, my friend ended up buying it as he lived much closer, and only $400.

I also had a note left on my Mini when I was going to school in the US from some girls who wanted to buy me some coffee. I already had a girlfriend, but I still went and had a beverage and made some new friends. I love Minis, they bring people together.

Interestingly I bought a front end geometry kit yesterday, and am picking up an engine next week off a guy I met at a fuel station last Thursday.

I drove in and parked my red Mini as usual. Started fuelling up, and a bloke in a Skyline next to me started talking and told me about some parts, gave me his number. He happened to have exactly what I was after.

If I was driving the Mercedes that day I wouldn't have met the guy and wouldn't have got some parts I was after.
