Its a common thing with early and later aussie shells, I can't imagine the british ones being different.
Provided you source the correct latches andother things (door rubbers are different profile too) it should all bolt or screw together and work.

I have found out the hard way (after painting) that aussie wind up window doors are not the best fit in an english shell. I am guessing that it had sliding window doors originally. Has anyone made this work before? I am currently modifying the door catches and tongue on the mechanism to be thinner and shorter respectively. Thoughts? Thanks in advance. |

I thought the doors on rover mini's were a completely different shape to that of a Aussie mini - thus the fit will be quite poor

i always thought that this was the case with mine until i saw the damage that had been done to the side panels in previous accidents under the bog. It may be that yours has had a whack at some point that has put things just that little bit out of alignment. |

The driver's door 'hole' on my Elf was a full 12mm shorter than the passenger side....hate to think what happened..... I'm in the process of fitting aus (wind up) doors to UK/NZ MKI shell. No difference other than latch guide. |

Pretty sure that the shell has not had any major trauma near the doors, both sides are exactly the same. There is definitely no bog, as I stripped it back to bare metal during the resto... Both the 850 and deluxe type door catched are too fat to clear the gap between the doors and sill panel. Did the english shells have different catches that are slimmer? By the way, the doors have been aligned and the clearance between the front of the doors and the a-panel is at a minimum. |

I know it's not a Rover but are there holes in front of the A piller to accept hinges if not you need rover type doors. In my 72 estate it had internal hinges ie late pomy doors different latches etc (this may not be worth 2c) |

No, the hinges are external so this is not an option unfortunately. I had hoped that someone had experienced the same issue, as changing the doors now that they are all painted etc is not really an option... Thanks anyway. |

I knew a guy who bought a brand new Morris 1100 & later discovered the car was 1" longer on one side than the other..................................... |

Roll-up doors fitted fine on my (English) Traveller - until I swapped them for a set of Oz sliders. From memory the only issue was that the rollups had the nylon wedge on the car and the matching metal bracket on the door. English cars are the other way 'round. Fixed in a few minutes with a screw driver. Cheers, Ian |

Ya that's the thing - all the posts above say they'll fit except you need to change the latches....and you've asked twice if the latches are different...
