hey guys, i've got an old smiths mechanical temp gauge that my dad bought new in the 70's and i want to know how i go about hooking it up. any ideas? |

First put the biz end of the capillary tube in boiling water, make sure it works. Should be no kinks in the line. It goes into the temp sender hole in the head, near #1 spark plug. If you have an 850 or Deluxe without this hole, there's a thermostat housing that was made with the same fitting. You will need a threaded adaptor for the sender if you don't have one. Thread in head is 5/8"-16 UNS, according to those who know (KC and GR) ![]() |
