Hi guys

Minis in the gong is a club that I helped set up and run in wollongong. We have a website, but it hasn't really changed in 3 years so i thought i would refresh it.
here is the old one:

www.minisinthegong.com.au

and the new one is

http://home.exetel.com.au/minisinthegong/newSite/

Let me know what you think and weather you think we should add or change anything.

Cheers Ryan

looks good,
however, I think the text inside the minis at the top of the page (Home, forum, buy & sell etc) should be all the same size..

I really wanted to say the same but as everyone else was being so nice, i didn't want to be the first to say anything negative :(

Couple of things

The animated gif is a bit over the top, 300kb is rather large. Slows down the page scrolling for me considerably in IE.

Header image has a lot of jaggy edges.

In addition to the above, i think the top frame is too big. It suits the index page, but as soon as you go to other sections you're losing 30% of your screen. Even on the first page you have to scroll down to read the text and i'm running 1280x800 resolution.

Looks much better though than the original site 8)

one more thing about the colours - see if there is a way to get the forum and photo section to match with the rest of the site as you've got a black and white top frame contrasting with wordart and lots of blue. Just try and keep it simple.

Thanks guys

I agree about the header being to big on the other pages.
Also the word art and the different coloured backgrounds will go, i just hadn't got to that yet.

The text in the buttons can easily be changed, so i will look at doing that. As for the gif. on the front page. Does it cause problems for everyone? Because i have fairly slow connection and it seems fine?

Keep the feedback coming.

Ryan

I think it looks heaps better mate.

I too have trouble scrollling through the front page (well not trouble, its just slow) I am on broadband too.

I agree with emmeline in making the letters in the Minis the same size, as the contact us writing looks a little out of place,

But other than that its a huge improvement

i would lose the frame at the top.. frames are so 1990s!!! on a 1024*768 web page the heading takes up around 25% of your screen space...

maybe try some css/rollover for the menu so you can have mouse hover effects when the icon is over the buttons..

for the gallery use some form of a .js lightbox to enlarge images from thumbnails...

make up a nice form contact page...

see here for some examples:

www.jodielouisemillinery.com.au

thats a page I made recently, tried to keep everything clean and simple. and its valid xhtml and css. :D
