Post subject:  Engine oil light

Hello to those Automtic specialist. Just got a few question on the auto gearbox again. Well lately when I am changing from N to first gear my engine oil light will come on and then the light will go off. When I am in reverse the engine oil light will stay on. Any ideas what is going on? Also just want to know where can I get brand new parts for the auto gear box? Parts like band and stuff.

I'm sure that there are places in Oz, but here is the link to Jpat...

While the information contained in here is for the Austin America/Morris 1100, you may find it a good read as the gearbox is the same...

Are your reverse lights working properly now? Just wondering if that's related somehow?

Nah still hanen't had a chance to look at the reverse lights. This is another problem just came up. As I said you fix one thing and the next things will play up.

Oil pressure can fluctuate up and down a bit when you shift gears in an auto.
MiniMatics here from 1969 on had an oil pressure gauge so you could see what is going on.
If you don't have this I would fit one, mechanical type preferred.
You might just have a dud switch, OTOH there may be a mechanical problem- leaky oilpipe seal, clutch servo, or band actuator, etc..
