well on friday night i finished work early so i could go pick up a car around 8 o'clock at night. i arrived around 9ish with my mate in his car, made the exchange of money, signed the papers and headed off in my 1975 hairy lime green clubman s. all seemed well for the trip home until i was heading down grand junction road on the way home and the lights started to dim and the alternator light came on. i decided i would drive it to the next servo. when i got ther the lights wer fine so kept going, i stoped at some lights and then the little brick died  i tryed starting it and with no luck, so stuck it in netrual and rolled down the hill to the nearest servo. which wasnt to far away luckily, the locals wer very nice also, with everyone offering help to get it started. after tryin to start it for about 1/2 hour i gave up and decided to call the RAA. the guy got there about 10ish and got the car going, but said that i prob wouldnt make it home, he was right, i got about 600 metres down the road and she died again. so managed to push it to a lit up area and decided to tow it home on a trailer, so drove home and hired a trailer from caltex. drove back and picked up the brick. ended up getin home at 2:30am saturday morning  :D but was glad to have it in the garage and not on the street. ah the joy of owning a mini. its not parked with the two others and started striping the front end off. will put some pics up. hope i get it back on the road by the weekend. :? will update soon. oh btw it was the alternater that happened to die in the short amount of time ive owned the car.

sometimes cars are scared about being taken to a new surrounding. My moke died on the way to my new place, but I got her towed, then when she was there, I talked to her and told her it was her new home and she would be safe etc etc and she started next time perfectly...

Dont you just love the first drive home in a mini. The first mini i bought i got about 500m away from where i bought it, and the rear exhaust mount broke, and so the exhaust dropped, and then as a consequence it pulled the exhaust of the extractors. So after much trouble and some wire we got home, but it kept coming off the extractors until finally we were able to use a gutter to get under the car well enough to tie it up good.

The second one i bought the ignition key would stick after you started it, and you would get about 200m and then all the ignition lights would come on and the car would just die. Took forever to work that one out

Cherry died like 3 times on the way home from her PO's house. her idle screw was too low.

She was scared to move house too!
