i just did mine after reading about Gerg doing his...

i just rubbed the painted section back with 320 grit wet n dry, then did the shiny bits with 600 then 1200 w&d... then washed them down... wax and grease remover.. mask off all the bits i want unpainted, etch primer x 3 coats, top coat x 3 coats, and clear x 2 coats.. clear coat not necesary if not doing metallic colour.

then get some alushine, autosol or some other metal polish and go crazy on the alloy bits you want shiny.

i will post some pics of mine tomorrow.. they came up alright for a few hours work!

I have the big lathe set up with a Mini drive flange at work- I would just face a few thou off to get rid of the gutter rash, also the same off that flat face with the wheelweight marks, if those don't polish out..

They'll come up brilliant mate. Check out the pics of my 'Tasman' wheels (almost the same wheel except Tasman's are a poorer quality casing i.e. porous!) that I had on my car at this year's mini muster

Leighton, you can pick up wheels like that in australia very cheeply. Buying from UK could be a very long and expensive process.
